Richard Lawson

Writer

Lawson began his writing career at Gawker in 2007. Initially hired onto Gawker's ad sales team, Lawson secretly began participating in Gawker's active comments section under the handle LolCait, where his writing gained the attention of the editorial staff.[3][1] After revealing his identity, he began providing editorial content for the site, first by selecting the week's best comments, and eventually becoming a full-time editor.[1] Lawson gained notice for his television recaps for shows such as The Real Housewives of New York City.[4][5] His posts were the most popular on the site, where they garnered 2.4 million viewers each month.[6] He left in July 2009 to work at TV.com for five months, before returning to Gawker. Lawson left the site for the second time in late 2011 to work for The Atlantic Wire as a senior entertainment and culture writer.[6][4]

In November 2013, Lawson left The Atlantic Wire to work as the Hollywood columnist at Vanity Fair.[7] Four months later, he was hired as the magazine's TV and film critic. In March 2018, he became Vanity Fair's chief critic.[8]

Lawson's debut novel, All We Can Do Is Wait,[9] was released on February 6, 2018 under Razorbill.[10] The book is a YA novel that centers on a group of teenagers in the waiting room of a hospital after a bridge collapse. All We Can Do Is Wait received a starred review from Publishers Weekly.[2] You can listen to Richard's interview with Michael Patrick King on the Vanity Fair Podcast Still Watching.

Here to Help You Make Amazing Memories

Have something amazing in mind? I am ready to start making memories. With my unparalleled expertise, your one of a kind, magical trip is just around the corner.

You might know me as an only child, bonus Mom to two fabulous humans and an adorable pup named chase, and a soft-core Starbucks addict.

I’m also a mental-health advocate, just 5-degrees of separation from king charles (for reals!) and a charter member of the #Wanderlust Society (That one is made up. But, if there were a #Wanderlust Society, I would be a charter member).

I have travel memories that date back to my 3-year old self. My parents carried me as they backpacked across the Continental Divide from Glacier National Park in Montana to Canada’s International Peace Park. Although, I was merely along for the ride, even then I recognized that camping was not “my thing!”. I knew by the age of 10 that there was a big-wide world out there that I had to experience in a bougie Extra AF type of way, just as my podcasts explains!

"I couldn't help but wonder...would I ever have a fabulous vacation with amazing friends?"

Your Greek Island Glow Cruise Itinerary

A round-trip experience from Piraeus (Athens) to Santorini, Rhodes, Bodrum, and Mykonos

Day One

Athens

Few cities are as colorful as Athens — from the street art scene to the bright blue skies and sand-fringed shores. Take in breathtaking views from the Mikrolimano Marina, immerse yourself in ancient Greek history at the Parthenon, and explore the
Acropolis, which remains the heart of the ever-evolving city

Day Two

Santorini

As the Greek Goddess of the Cyclades Islands, Santorini is known for breathtaking panoramas, fiery orange and blue sunsets, and the famed red and black beaches. Take in views from the blue and white dotted hills of Oia, or enjoy locally-made wine while sailing along the waters of the Caldera coast.

Day Three

Rhodes

Long attracting writers and artists to its communities, Rhodes is where the  Byzantine Empire meets modern cultural ingenuity. Whether wandering the cobbled streets of Old Town for delicious Greek bites, exploring the perched-on-a-picturesque-hill village of Lindos, or hitting up famed Faliraki Beach — this island truly has it all.

Day Four

Bodrum, Turkey

Beautiful beaches with crystalline waters. Chalk-white houses with bright-blue trim. Bodrum boasts Aegean character from its narrow streets with ancient ruins to its glitzy marina, flower-filled cafes, and world-class cuisine. Spend the day at one of its idyllic top-rated beach resorts or venture into the markets of Old Town to haggle for handmade finds.

Day Five

At Sea

For the day at sea, sailors will indulge in a discussion with Molly, Cindy and Richard, test their knowledge with Sex and the City trivia, and immerse themselves in the world of the Resilient Lady. It's the perfect day for fans to connect, learn, and celebrate their love for the iconic series.

Day Six + Seven

Mykonos

Mykonos may be famous for its beach club parties and electric nightlife, but the Greek Isle has a notably quiet side, too. With overnight stays, you can explore the charm of the cafe-lined waterfront promenades or tour the vineyards tucked charmingly into the gorgeous hillsides of the island.

Day Eight

Welcome Aboard
The Resilient Lady

Here's What's Included

Brilliant inclusions on every, adult-only voyage. Perks that put you at the helm of VIP treatment. Like the Aegean Sea, we make it crystal clear what you get when you sail with Virgin. We’ve taken care of all the details — so all you have to do is kick back and have the relaxing vacation you deserve. Take a look at everything that is included the moment you step on board — no fine print, no surprise receipts, just exactly what you expected.

Food to Elevate Your Mood

When we say “included,” we mean it. From comfort go-to’s to experimental cuisine, elaborate brunches to Korean BBQ, all our specialty eateries are on us — no hidden tax, no pesky disclaimer, no crowded buffets or designated dining times. Plus, all our food is sustainably sourced, made fresh-to-order, and always tasty. Go ahead, snap that pic (you know you want to).

Tip, Tip, Hurrah!

We’ve reimagined the way people holiday at sea from the hull up — so that epic service becomes the norm. Our Crew is knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly stylish — but mainly, our Crew is genuinely happy to help you make your vacation one of a kind. So get pampered, taste everything, and enjoy a drink (or two) knowing that all tips are covered. Cheers to that.

Free WiFi for All!

Check-in with your loved ones. Make new connections aboard. Or post that ice cream selfie before it melts. With WiFi included on every sailing, you can show off share the view with your home crew, find your newest best friends online, or check in on your email (look, we get it, sometimes it’s hard to *fully* let go) — because, let’s be honest, in this day and age, WiFi should be considered as essential as water.

Unlimited Group Workouts

For the 'do-nothings,' the 'do-somethings' and the 'do-literally-everythings' (you know who you are), we have tons of group fitness classes on board so that you can sea the world and keep your #FitnessGoals going. From sunrise yoga and outdoor boxing to a cycling studio and bungee workouts — you’ll have full access to classes and state-of-the-art gym equipment for unlimited opportunities to break a sweat. And if you’re not the working out kind, well, the views are nice from the gym?

Essential Drinks,
On Us

Hydration is key — especially in a sun-soaked, adventure-filled, energy-buzzing holiday at sea. Start your day with a drip-coffee, quench your post-workout thirst with still and sparkling water, get a non-pressed juice by the pool, or find the perfect soda and end your day in paradise with your favorite bedtime tea. With all essential drinks already covered, you can recharge, free of charge.

Late Nights,
Neon Lights

With a festival-like lineup featuring original, first-to-sea productions, extraordinary pop-up acts, and immersive experiences, the entertainment you’ll experience on board is something you’ve never seen before. It’s wild. It’s thought-provoking. It’s a full-on extravaganza. And it couldn’t be anything else. Digging deep into our musical roots, we’ve collaborated with the world’s most-talked-about directors, choreographers, and artists to create the live entertainment only a Virgin brand could.
